Solid-liquid centrifugal separation
Rousselet Robatel is a world leader in the design and manufacture of a wide range for various industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, biotechnology, textiles, metallurgy and food.
Rousselet Robatel has developed horizontal centrifuges with scraper blades, vertical centrifuges with basket, decanter centrifuges, laboratory scale, pilot scale and production scale.
Rousselet Robatel is at the forefront of solid-liquid separation in the industry, supplying customised turnkey centrifuges.
The separation of the components is achieved by the passage of the liquid phase through a filter element under the effect of the pressure generated by a centrifugal field. This filter element (cloth), fixed inside a perforated basket, is the support on which the solid particles settle, forming a permeable layer (cake).
Rousselet Robatel is integrated in the production of filter bags for all centrifuges with basket filtration.
Centrifugal decantation or sedimentation is due to the different density of the ingredients exposed to the centrifugal field. In this case, the solids (the cake) with the heavier density are pressed directly against the wall of the radially rotating bowl. The liquid with lower density (light phase) concentrates in the direction of the rotation axis of the bowl, i.e. towards the centre of the bowl.
